If you are too interested in things you should not be interested in, you could be in danger.

You may be causing yourself problems by trying to find out things you don't need to know.

Example:

Tom and Steve are walking down the street when they see a building that has been abandoned. There is wood over the windows and locks on the doors. There are weeds everywhere, and the garbage has been blown in by the wind. There is also a fence around the building to keep people out. The two boys hear a noise inside the building.

"I'm going to see what that noise is," says Tom.

"You'd better not," warns Steve, "Curiosity killed the cat, you know. It might be very dangerous. Let's just go home instead."

"Helter skelter, hang sorrow, care'll kill a Cat, up-tails all, and a Louse for the Hangman."

  این نمایش یکی از کمدی های سرگرمی Tudor بود که در آن،هر کدام از نقش های اصلی با یک خوشمزگی(!)و ویژگی گره خورده بودند.گمانه زنی ها حاکی از این است که این نمایش در سال 1598 توسط گروه The Lord Chamberlain's Men که شامل بازیگرانی مانند ویلیام شکسپیر و ویلیام کمپ می شد،ساخته شده است.شکسپیر مطمئنا توانایی به جا گذاشتن یک "خط" به یاد ماندنی را در یک فیلم داشت(همان اصطلاح ما).بالاخره،در همان سال در فیلم"Much Ado About Nothnig"،آن توانایی را ثابت کرد(!):

"What, courage man! what though care killed a cat, thou hast mettle enough in

thee to kill care."

"Care killed the Cat. It is said that a cat has nine lives, but care would wear

them all out."

اگر نگاهی به قرون گذشته بیندازیم متوجه خواهیم شد که به "کنجکاوی" با نگاه خوبی نگاه نمی شده است.چنانچه می بینیم Saint Augustine در کتاب "Confession" خود نوشت:قبل از به وجود آمدن زمین و هفت آسمان،خداوند "جهنم را برای افراد کنجکاو خلق کرد".Lord Byron  نیز در اثر خود،Don Juan، از کنجکاوی به عنوان"خبث طینت" یاد کرد.

این تفکرات ناخوشایند و همچنین این واقعیت که گربه ها به خاطر حس کنجکاوی انگشت نما شده اند،حاکی از مرگ آن هاست و به همین خاطر "care" به "Curiosity" تغییر پیدا کرد.
